About the Event
Seattle Baithak Group is a home-baithak initiative bringing together local musicians, music students, and enthusiasts to learn, share, and celebrate Indian classical music in an intimate setting. Meeting monthly, we create a space where musicians can share what they have been practicing and explore music together.
For the Ragamala Lights festival, Seattle Baithak Group presents a two-hour program featuring vocalists, tabla players, and harmonium. The first half features solo vocal performances exploring the beauty of afternoon raagas . The second half brings collaboration to the forefront, with a tabla solo or jugalbandi, followed by a trio exploring one raga through three genres—classical, light/semi-classical, and film music. The program concludes with a joyful group performance.
