About the Artists

Recognized for his musical ability from an early age, his mother, Mrs. Shobha Abhyankar decided to start his formal training and became 8-year old Sanjeev's first guru.  He received training simultaneously from his mother's guru, Pandit Gangadharbua Pipalkhare, premiering on stage at age 11.  With encouragement from family and other artists, he decided to make music his life-long career and came under the tutelage of the world-renowned Hindustani vocalist Pandit Jasraj in 1983, becoming part of his family and enduring rigorous training while accompanying him all over the world.  With dozens of recordings to his credit, he is known as an exceptional classical vocalist, as well as for his renditions of bhajans.

   

Harshad Kanetkar, a young talented Tabla player from India, began his initial training in Tabla at the age of five with Shri Pandurang Mukhade. For the past twelve years he has had intensive training under Shri Ramdas Palsule and Pandit Suresh Talwalkar.  Harshad is one of the few Tabla players of his generation who has equally adept and versatile in the art of accompanying vocal, instrumental and dance.  Crispness and clarity of his technique and a total command of rhythm are the classic hallmarks of his style.  He has accompanied many leading artists in prestigious music conferences all over India. He has also traveled and performed extensively in U.S., Canada, Europe and the Middle East. His recordings include solo works and fusion of musical traditions of the East and West.  Harshad has received many accolades and honors including the National Scholarship from the Government of India.He also was a visiting faculty at the Pandit Jasraj Music Academy in the U.S.A. for many years.

 

Milind Kulkarni's tryst with Harmonium bloomed at the tender age of seven. Milind is today a reputed accompanist and fast emerging as a soloist.  Milind's father, an avid Music lover, a recognized the inborn talent of young Milind & opened the world of music at a very young age.  Pt. Vasantrao Gurav of Sangli was the first formal Guru who introduced Milind to the 'Seven Swaras'. Discovering the potential of Milind ,  Pt. Anna Diwan of Sangli further enriched Milind's talents. Today Milind is under the fine tutelage of Pt. Pramod Marathe, leading Harmonium player & Principal at the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Pune.  Milind earned his Bachelor's Degree in Music, specialising in Harmonium at Centre for Performing Arts, Pune University, Pune.
